Hi, I’m Kelsey!
If we haven’t had the chance to meet yet, let me take a moment to officially introduce myself!
I have had the great honour of being a Lakeshore councillor since 2018, and a lot has changed since then. On a personal note, I started my role at Workforce WindsorEssex, bought a home in Belle River, fell in love, and am now the very proud mom to an incredible baby boy my partner Jacob and I welcomed in May of this year. Our dog Zoey would say she was the first baby, and I am not sure I can completely disagree.
I have lived in Lakeshore for almost 30 years and owe every ounce of my success to the family, friends and community that continue to help me grow. It has truly been an honour to serve on council for these past 8 years and I am still committed to learning, growing, and listening in order to make the best decisions for our evolving municipality.
Work
Director of Community and Workforce Development
Workforce WindsorEssex
I have been with Workforce WindsorEssex since November 2018 and have had the great pleasure of working on several incredible projects. My job helps me stay on top of labour market and economic trends in the region, while understanding how our community is changing through migration and immigration.
In a nutshell, Workforce WindsorEssex helps people find jobs and services, and helps employers and service providers support a strong current and future workforce.
A great deal of my work centers around bringing newcomers and service providers together to improve settlement systems and services. Beyond this, I have had the opportunity to work in a consulting capacity to develop recommendations to improve recreation supports, employment services and youth programming.
One of my last major undertakings ahead of my maternity leave was co-authoring the latest Community & Labour Market Plan.
I’ve held a few jobs since I was a young teenager, many of which were in Lakeshore! If I look familiar, you might be thinking of my early days at Foodland, Twigg’s or Starbucks.
Or you may remember me as co-owner of the West Beach Snack Shack, where my sister and I operated the concession for 4 years from 2012-2015!
